  • Giving Tuesday Campaign at Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary, in Jordanville.

    25 November 2016

Dear Friends of Holy Trinity Seminary,

Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary provides students with rigorous academics and traditional spiritual formation, drawing pious Orthodox from all over the world who want to experience its unique environment. Incorporating an undergraduate education with a deep liturgical life in a monastic setting, we offer students a vital atmosphere to learn all the aspects of becoming a future pastor of the Church.

Your donations help us sustain our rich educational experience. This past year, we hired new faculty to teach Scripture and Philosophy and have invited guest lecturers from across the country to give talks on specialized subjects. To further give variety to the students’ intellectual development, we provide them the opportunity to participate in conferences.

Therefore, on this Giving Tuesday (11/29/2016), we ask for your generous support as we move forward, continuing to provide exceptional training for the future leaders of the Church and to improve the quality of education at Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary. Additionally, this year only, every dollar you donate up to $50,000 to Holy Trinity Seminary by Giving Tuesday will be tripled by a generous grant. Please help us reach this goal – we cannot do this without your help!

If you have questions, please give us a call at 315-858-0945 or email us at info@hts.edu.

May the blessings of the Lord be upon you!

    In Christ,
    Archimandrite Luke
    Rector

*Please note: all donations between now and November 29th, 2016 will be counted towards the Giving Tuesday fundraising total.

  • Archipastoral Visit to the Church of St. Tikhon and New Martyrs of Russia, Cambridge, Ontario, Canada November 19-20, 2016.

    24 November 2016

By the Grace of God, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada visited the Church of St. Tikhon and New Martyrs of Russia, Cambridge, to partake in the celebration of their parish feast. The parish feast day is on the weekend closest to the commemoration of the election of St. Tikhon as Patriarch on November 18th (new style) in 1917. With great anticipation the parishioners awaited for the arrival of their Archbishop for the All-night vigil service, and again, many parishioners and out-of-town guests greeted the Archbishop for Divine Liturgy the following day. During the Divine Liturgy, subdeacon Sergey Gusakov from Montreal was ordained as a deacon. Co-celebrating with the Archbishop were the rector of the church priest Evgeniy Shchukin, protopriest Vyacheslav Davidenko from Toronto and protodeacon Vasiliy Milonow from Ottawa.

Following Divine Liturgy, the sisterhood of the Church warmly invited guests for a festive dinner in the parish hall. The children of the parish school put on a wise and wonderful short play, and other parishioners treated guests with musical performances.
Archbishop Gabriel congratulated the parish with their Feastday, and wished them further growth – it has been less that two years that the parish has its own Church building. A tremendous amount of work has been done by the hands of the parishioners, including the iconostasis and even the icons. Several members of the parish received celebratory letters from the Archbishop.

The parish exists for 15 years, and prior to having their own priest, was often visited by and spiritually served by the reposed father Mikhail Luboshchinsky, and then by father Vyacheslav Davidenko. The parish has a school for children, active sisterhood and regular spiritual talks for adults and youth. The church spiritually serves those in Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Brantford and other nearby towns and cities.
